Requirements
We are looking for people ages 20-50 who are willing to live in community, follow a simple lifestyle, and make decisions collaboratively. Applicants must have a great dedication to their faith, enacted by feeding, clothing, sheltering and befriending the poorest among us.
Length of Service
We request a one-year commitment (August 1 - July 31). This commitment is renewable for one more year.
Financial Arrangements
Room and board, medical and dental insurance, monthly stipend of $100, travel stipend for one trip per year, use of community vehicles, departing stipend of $1,000 at the end of one-year commitment, and assistance with some student loans.
Living Arrangements
We live, pray and work in a common life of service, spirituality and simplicity. The house for the Core Community is located in the same neighborhood as our men's and women's transitional houses, and is very close to our Hospitality Center.
Application Process
Before applying, it is necessary to get to know our work and life here. To do that, one would need to contact the Director, Fr. Bill Wack. An important part of the process is a visit to André House. It is recommended that a person visit us and participate in our life. If it is decided that one should apply, in addition to filling out an application, one would need to schedule an interview with the current Core Community. This interview would take place during a week in which the applicant would stay with us and work alongside us. Interviews take place from December through May.
