Thanks for your interest in joining us at André House!
André House is a House of Hospitality whose main ministries include a transitional shelter and soup kitchen in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. It is run by a Core Community of seven to nine people, religious and lay, who live, work, and pray together. Everyone in the community does the same work, as we rotate the many different responsibilities during the week.
Our ministry is rather intensive, working with poor and homeless people that our society would rather ignore and forget.
We truly love the work we do and are excited about the opportunity to share it with you.
For those interested in applying to become a Core Community Staff member, the first step in the application process is to contact the Director, Fr. Tom Doyle, C.S.C. He will be able to talk about the particulars of the application process and introduce you more to André House.
The visit is really the most important part. It is typically a week long, from Sunday afternoon to Friday evening. During this week, you will live and work with the Current Core Community Staff. You will be given a schedule and walked through the daily tasks at André House. This is your opportunity to experience André House as a Core Staffer. Our experience is that this week helps both the person applying and those already on staff at André House to discern whether this is a good fit for you.
At the end of the week we will conclude with a formal interview with the current Core Staff. Our application and interview process is clearly a little different than that of an office job, but we feel this is the best way to introduce you to André House and to help everyone involved decide what is best.
We hope that you will consider learning more about André House. Please contact Fr. Tom with any further questions.
Blessings in your discernment.
